| EVENT TIPS |
| Enter online from the site to
ensure your place ( although you can't pay online), send a check
within 5 days to ensure a discount. |
Turn up at the event anytime
before 10am (earlier the better to plan your route) and pick up your
laminated A4 size map.
Copy the checkpoints (aprox 25-30 of) off the master maps in the
indoor start event centre, drink some coffee, and try and work out
which big hills to avoid.
|
Bring some fine point permanent
markers to mark the control points on.
Make or buy a map holder board/device
for your bike to speed up your route planning. |
Its up to you when you start to ride - just line up and collect
your points sheet when you are ready, This tells you how much the
controls are worth, and your off with the clock running.
Ride as hard as you wish for 3.5 hrs to pick up as many points as
possible. Generally the winners only cover @35 miles, but you
usually find some great trails on your travels |
| To win - don't try and do to
much, try and ensure you ride up the hills on the road and down
offroad, and don't hang around at the checkpoints too long. The fast
headless chicken guys can be beaten by the good planning snails.
|
| Lateness costs you 5 points per
minute, so get back on time at all costs. will that checkpoint worth
10 points really be worth it? |
| Prize giving is generally around
2pm, with good prizes and trophys, and its an early finish to return
home for that Sunday dinner, or pop down the pub. |
| If its a frozen winter morning,
get out and ride as soon as possible (9am) and enjot the fast mud
free trails before they thaw. |
